bipolarhappens.com blog reader comments

I love all of the reader comments:

If you’re new to this blog, you can look at the top of the blog entry to see if there is a number next to the comments button.  I don’t know why they make it so small!
It’s easy to add comments – and I do read them all before they are posted. Lately I’ve added my own comments to each posting.

Your opinions mean a lot- especially to the other reader, so please add as many as you like. I appreciate opinions different than my own and especially like it when readers offer suggestions to a reader’s question.

    Hi Julie,
This is my first time to write here and I get your emails every week since I ordered your health cards for my son, Mike who was diagnosed 1n 2004 as schizo-affective bipolar while he was in a drug rehab facility in Redwood City not too far away from San Francisco. He is currently living in the Philippines for about 4 years now at a private facility. He’s been sober and is taking zyprexia and lamictal for his dysthemic and bipolar combined which has really worked for him. Last night I got a call from his counselor that he had exploded in anger and jumped on another client inside the facility. When asked why he did it he said he blanked out and he said that in the past this other guy had spit at him but just ignored it. Mike finished the program already but we had agreed that he will live there until he is really a lot better to handle his illness. He sees a doctor regularly and takes his meds on time. We all are shocked by this latest incident – usually he has only minor misbehaviors like sleeping late and waking up late. Since we are to see him in Feb. for his 28th birthday I was wondering if this is related to a mood change that he’s having or was he provoked and that there was a trigger that we don’t know about. This the first episode of a relapse that had happened to him and they are watching him and the other person that he hurt also. Is this part of his mania? We are at a loss. Help!
