This is especially true when it comes to WORRY.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The worries of a teen are different than adult worries and this must be reflected in how we help teens manage this illness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Teenagers care about&#8230;.<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">what others think<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">their short term future<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #333399;\">friends<\/span>, who <span style=\"color: #339966;\">said what to whom,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">dating,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">studying,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333399;\">being popular,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">electronic devices,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">music<\/span>,<span style=\"color: #00ff00;\"> school<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">the pressures of substance use<\/span>.<\/strong> (Just to name a very few!)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">These are very different than the adult worries of supporting themselves, supporting others, divorce, retirement, work, raising children, making money, changing the world and mortgages. It&#8217;s easy to compare these lists and discount teen worries as superficial- but they are never superficial to the teens themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em><strong>Teens also live in a world where nothing is private.<\/strong><\/em><\/span> They can easily make huge mistakes on social media when they are in a mood swing.
