I almost made a pretty bad mistake&#8230;.."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bipolarhappens.com\/bhblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hand-meds-right1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"hand meds right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bipolarhappens.com\/bhblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hand-meds-right1-300x231.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"231\" \/><\/a>I\u00a0 had a pretty scary experience today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">I am good about taking my medications. I basically have no life if I don\u2019t use my Lamictal along with my management plan. They can\u2019t work alone- so meds are my lifeline.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">I have small amounts of my meds in many locations as I move around town a lot and may forget to put my daily meds container in my purse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Here&#8217;s where I put them:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">1. My glove compartment<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">2. My mom\u2019s house<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">3. My house<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">4. My daily dose in my purse- I fill this bottle every night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Today, I was putting a bottle of meds at my mom\u2019s house and had my daily bottle in my backpack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">I took out both bottles at once.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">My daily meds are 700mg Lamictal \u00a0(my Lamictal is much higher than most doses), Ativan for sleeping if it\u2019s a rough night, a pain pill for a hip injury that I use if the hip is driving me crazy and I can\u2019t sit\u00a0and work- and an iron pill. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The other bottle had the extras for my mom\u2019s cupboard &#8211; so a lot more pills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">I first emptied my correct dose in my right hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Then I opened the extra supply bottle and poured out the contents into my left hand to check how much I had in there. \u00a0\u00a0And then, believe it or not\u2026 as crazy and awful as this is- instead of taking the small daily dose- I cupped the hand with all kind of pills in it and put it in my mouth!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">I immediately realized what I had done and only a few went into my mouth- they were all pretty wet when I spit them out. \u00a0None were swallowed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Lamictals\u2026.Iron pills\u2026 Ativans\u2026 and\u00a0two pain pills all at once! Yikes!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">That was some fast spitting!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">My point:\u00a0 It\u2019s hard for people with bipolar disorder to gets their meds straight every day. Can you imagine having to take so many pills throughout the day- every day of your life!\u00a0 It sometimes gets really confusing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The meds from my mouth dried and all is fine.
